The Wichita Wind Surge has named Brian Dinkelman as their new manager, succeeding Ramon Borrego who moved up to the Twins’ Major League staff

Dinkelman isn’t new to the game. He’s been managing the High-A Cedar Rapids team for five years, leading them to four playoff runs. Last year, he was named Minor League Manager of the Year after guiding the Kernels to a solid 78-58 record and winning the Midwest League Championship. His overall managing record stands at 367 wins and 286 losses.
Before he took the reins as a manager, Dinkelman was the hitting coach for Cedar Rapids from 2016 to 2018. He kicked off his coaching career with the GCL Twins in 2015. As a player, he was drafted by the Twins in 2006 and played eight seasons in their organization. He even made it to the big leagues in 2011, playing 23 games for Minnesota.
Along with Dinkelman, the Wind Surge has announced other staff changes. Ryan Ricci will be the pitching coach, coming from Single-A Fort Myers, where he had a great season. Jesus Sanchez will also join as a pitching coach, bringing experience from his minor league career.
On the hitting side, Andrew Cresci is coming over from the Astros organization, while Yeison Perez continues his journey with the Twins. The team is gearing up for the 2025 season, starting on April 4 at Springfield, with their home opener on April 8 against the Midland RockHounds. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season!
