Manchester: There’s some exciting news for students! A new accommodation block could be on the way, offering over 860 beds, social areas, and even a gym.

Vita Group is looking to build a mix of 33 and 12-storey towers on a vacant lot at Hulme Street and Medlock Street. Their updated plans show 861 rooms, which is a bump from the original 750 they proposed.

These rooms will be studio-style, complete with kitchenettes, en-suite bathrooms, and study desks. The bigger rooms will also have washer/dryers and a cozy living area.

Tim Groom Architects have designed some cool social spaces, group study rooms, and three gyms. Plus, they’re planning for safety with 24-hour security and CCTV.

This new block is just a short ride from both Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, right in the bustling First Street district. This area is being revamped and has a mix of offices, leisure spots, and even a cinema and art gallery.

So far, the planning application hasn’t received any comments or objections, which is a good sign!
