SALT LAKE CITY: The Nets are playing it safe with D’Angelo Russell and Cam Johnson. Both will sit out Sunday’s game against the Jazz, along with Cam Thomas.

Johnson is missing his fifth straight game due to a right ankle sprain he got late in a game against Milwaukee. Russell is out for the fourth consecutive game because of a right shin contusion. The Nets have struggled without them, losing four games in a row by a whopping 77 points.

Coach Jordi Fernandez mentioned that both Johnson and Russell are day-to-day and are working hard to get back. Unfortunately, leading scorer Thomas and Trendon Watford are also sidelined with hamstring issues.

Dariq Whitehead is in concussion protocol and is questionable for Sunday’s game. Other players like Bojan Bogdanovic and De’Anthony Melton are also out due to various injuries.

The Nets are heading to Los Angeles next week to face the Clippers and Lakers, assuming the wildfires in the area don’t disrupt their plans. The fires have caused significant damage, displacing many people.

Ziaire Williams shared that he’s safe, but some friends have lost their homes. He’s grateful that his family is okay.

On a brighter note, Tosan Evbuomwan is making strides on the court, showing confidence and skill in his recent games. Coach Fernandez is impressed and hinted that Evbuomwan might get even more playing time if he keeps it up.
