The Nets faced a crushing defeat against the Clippers, marking a low point in their season
Usually, even when they’re missing key players, the Nets put up a fight. They’ve scrapped and clawed their way through tough games before. But this time, it was different.
The game ended in a shocking 126-67 loss, the worst in franchise history. At first, it looked okay. They ended the first quarter tied at 21. But then, everything fell apart.
In the second quarter, they were outscored 37-14, and by halftime, they were down 58-35. Coming out of the locker room, they just didn’t show up. They allowed a staggering 81-30 run, and by the end of the third, they were down 102-51.
Noah Clowney got ejected late in the game, and the Clippers just kept piling on the points. This loss tied for the 10th-worst in NBA history, and they scored the fewest points of any team this season.
It’s hard to believe they scored 132 points just the night before against the Trail Blazers. Coach Jordi Fernandez said there were no excuses for this performance. The team had 15 assists and 22 turnovers, a huge drop from the previous game.
The Nets shot only 30.1% from the field, and it was tough to watch. Everyone, from players to coaches, had to take some blame. Fernandez acknowledged the lack of energy and competitive spirit.
Now, they’re wrapping up a tough West Coast trip, sitting at 1-3 in their last four games. They’ve got two more games against the Lakers and Thunder coming up. Hopefully, they can bounce back from this disaster.
