After extensive investigations, the identity of a man found dead in Rivington has been confirmed through DNA.

The police had been trying to identify him for ages, even releasing a sketch of what he might have looked like when he was alive. They also shared photos of his watch, coat, and boots to help jog people’s memories.
Thanks to DNA testing, they managed to track down his relatives overseas, which is how they finally got his identity. The family has requested that he not be named publicly, which is totally understandable.
Detective Inspector Paul Price from Lancashire Police expressed gratitude for the public’s help during the investigation. He mentioned that they used facial recognition, fingerprints, and DNA to solve the case. Thankfully, his death isn’t being treated as suspicious, but they’re still looking into how he died.
The police have reached out to the family, and they’re keeping them in their thoughts during this tough time. It’s a relief that they could finally give the family some closure.
