Discover how my twins’ dorm rooms reflect their distinct personalities and styles
My daughter loves to decorate and planned her space with all her favorite things. She was super excited about shopping for her dorm. On the flip side, my son took a minimalist route and just wanted the basics.
When we moved them in, it was clear how different they are. My daughter had a ton of stuff, like a rug and art supplies, while my son had just a few essentials. It took way longer to set up her room because she spent hours arranging everything just right.
She even brought a plant because she loves nature, having worked at a garden center over the summer. For her sophomore year, she got a new plant from the New York Botanical Garden, where she goes running.
My son kept his gray comforter but added a rug and some music posters. He’s not big on TV, but he did get a “Breaking Bad” poster after binge-watching it with friends. He also added LED lights to brighten up his dim dorm room.
Even with their differences, being at the same college has brought them closer. My daughter helped him pick out a rug this year, and they plan to meet for dinner weekly to try out new restaurants. Who knows, maybe they’ll even start a quirky twin design business someday!
