A single mom has taken her three years of maternity leave to explore 20 countries with her daughter, creating unforgettable memories together
Sarah’s paid leave ended in March 2024, but she’s now on a year of unpaid leave. She kicked off her travels by taking Luana to Barcelona when she was just two weeks old. Since then, they’ve explored places like Thailand, Nepal, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Sarah has no plans to slow down. She’s even organizing a group tour in Bali for other solo moms in April 2025. She funds her adventures through her maternity pay and her work as a social media manager.
Living in Frankfurt, Sarah loves traveling because it shows her how vast and diverse the world is. She finds joy in meeting new people and experiencing different cultures.
After giving birth in October 2021, Sarah took full advantage of her maternity leave. She mentioned that flight attendants at her airline can’t work while pregnant, so she received her full salary during that time.
Their first trip together was to Thailand after Sarah separated from Luana’s dad. They’ve also enjoyed daycare in Bali and Thailand, which has helped them balance travel and routine.
Now, after three years of adventures, Sarah is excited to share her love for travel with other solo moms through her upcoming Bali tour. She wants to create a supportive environment for moms who want to travel with their kids but not alone.
The list of countries they’ve visited is impressive, including Italy, Indonesia, and the UK, among others. Sarah believes that a life well-lived is filled with diverse experiences, and she’s determined to give that to her daughter.
