Mike Pence opened up about his brief exchange with Trump during Carter’s funeral, highlighting their past disagreements and current cordiality
Washington D.C.: So, Mike Pence recently talked about a quick chat he had with Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral. It was a pretty big deal since they haven’t been seen together since their fallout over the 2020 election.
At the National Cathedral, Pence stood up to shake Trump’s hand, and they exchanged some friendly words. It was a nice moment, especially considering their rocky history.
Pence’s wife, Karen, didn’t join in on the handshake, though. She stayed seated and didn’t acknowledge Trump at all. It seems like she’s still not on board with him.
In an interview, Pence said he was glad to have the chance to speak with Trump. He mentioned that he congratulated Trump, and Trump responded with a simple “Thanks, Mike.” It was brief but friendly.
Pence also recalled a past conversation from 2021 where he told Trump he’d keep praying for him. Trump’s response? “Don’t bother.” But Pence stood his ground, saying he’d always pray for him, no matter their differences.
While they seemed cordial at the funeral, Pence also shared his concerns about some political figures, like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, and their potential roles in government.
Fox News reached out to both Trump and Pence’s organization for comments, but they didn’t get a reply right away. It’s clear there’s still a lot to unpack between these two.
