Michelle Obama will not attend Trump’s inauguration, marking her second absence from a gathering of former leaders
West Palm Beach: So, it looks like Michelle Obama is skipping Donald Trump’s inauguration. This is the second time in just two weeks she’s missed a gathering with other former leaders and their spouses.
Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush will all be there for the swearing-in ceremony on January 20. Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton are joining their husbands too.
The Office of Barack and Michelle Obama confirmed that Michelle won’t be attending, but didn’t say why. She also missed the state funeral for Jimmy Carter last week, which was a big deal.
At that funeral, all the former presidents and their spouses were there, except for Michelle. It was kind of awkward since her husband and Trump were sitting together, chatting like old pals despite their political differences.
Back in 2017, all the former presidents and their wives attended Trump’s first inauguration, including Hillary Clinton after her loss in the 2016 election. It’s interesting to see how things have changed since then.
