Las Vegas: The MGM Grand hotel-casino is getting a major facelift with a $300 million renovation. They’re revamping over 4,200 rooms and suites in the main tower, and the first set of rooms will be ready this weekend.

They’re not just sprucing things up; they’re adding more than 110 new suites and combining about 350 standard rooms into larger spaces. Construction kicked off last month and should wrap up by December.

Mike Neubecker, the hotel’s president, mentioned that these changes come from listening to guests. The new rooms aim to feel more like home rather than just a hotel. He called it a “significant milestone” for the iconic MGM Grand.

Neubecker shared his excitement, saying, “I think it transforms MGM Grand.” He believes the new rooms will put them on par with other top properties on the Strip.

The MGM Grand first opened in 1993 and was once the largest hotel in the world. It has seen several renovations since, with the last major update to the main tower costing nearly $160 million back in 2012.

He noted that the average visitor to Las Vegas has changed a lot over the years. Now, many high-spending guests come for experiences, food, and entertainment rather than just gambling.

The new rooms were designed by Gensler, a firm known for its work on other Vegas projects. They’re inspired by the lively disco era, blending fun and elegance with modern touches.

Expect to see vibrant art in the hallways and rooms, adding a touch of glamour. The bathrooms are getting a nice upgrade too, with walk-in showers and no more tubs. Plus, every room will have a mini-fridge and a fully stocked mini-bar.

Neubecker emphasized that MGM Grand is all about entertainment and excitement. These renovations, along with new attractions, show their commitment to enhancing the guest experience for everyone.
