Meta plans to cut 5% of its workforce, focusing on low performers, as CEO Zuckerberg prepares for an intense year ahead

The company is letting go of its lowest-performing workers, and those affected will find out by February 10. They’ll get severance packages similar to what was offered in previous layoffs. This is the biggest round of cuts since they laid off 21,000 employees a couple of years ago.
Zuckerberg also talked about some shifts in how Meta operates, especially with the upcoming elections. He’s looking to simplify policies and focus on free expression. In a recent video, he said they’re going back to their roots and making sure they have the best people on board.
He emphasized that they’re raising the bar on performance management. Instead of waiting a whole year to manage out low performers, they’re going to act faster this time.
