Malibu: It was a tough day for Mel Gibson. He checked out the remains of his $14.5 million mansion that was destroyed in the recent Palisades Fire.

Just a week after the fire, Mel rode through his neighborhood in a firetruck. He took a good look at the damage to the home he had for 15 years.

While there, he met with firefighters and thanked them for their hard work. Dressed casually in a blue flannel shirt and jeans, he even found an end table in the wreckage to take with him.

Mel was joined by a reporter and some first responders as they toured the area. He asked one firefighter about the empty reservoir, surprised to learn they ran out of water quickly during the fight against the flames.

He was on Joe Rogan’s podcast when the fire broke out, and he had just criticized California’s governor for not doing enough to prevent wildfires.

After the fire, he felt uneasy during the podcast, knowing his home was in danger. When he got back, he was shocked to see the destruction. He described the scene as looking like a war zone, with only chimneys and roof tiles left standing.

Mel shared that many of his neighbors, including actor Ed Harris, also lost their homes. He expressed how emotional it was, as he had many personal items there that he could never replace.

Sadly, many other celebrities have faced similar losses in these wildfires. As of now, the Palisades Fire has claimed at least nine lives and burned over 23,000 acres, with only 22% containment.
