A daycare in Maryland faces serious allegations after a toddler was reportedly placed in a trash can by a teacher

La Plata: This whole situation is just wild. Aareion Thomas got a shocking message while working at Potomac Early Learning Center. It said a teacher put her one-year-old daughter, Leilani, in a trash can.
Can you believe that? Aareion was like, “What do you mean? Did they really put her in there?” The witness confirmed it. Apparently, the teacher thought it was funny when Leilani didn’t want her diaper changed.
So, the teacher jokingly put her in the trash can, covering her with other trash. The witness felt she had to speak up after seeing that. She said, “I wouldn’t want that to happen to my child.”
WUSA9 tried to get more info from the Learning Center but was directed to Maryland’s Office of Child Care. They’re the ones looking into this whole mess.
After confronting the administration, both Aareion and the witness were fired. Now, Aareion wants to make sure parents know what’s going on at the daycare.
She’s pushing for accountability from everyone involved—the daycare, the director, and the teacher. The La Plata Police are also on it, starting their investigation on January 5 and planning to send their findings to Child Protective Services.
