Toronto: So, Mark Carney made an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and it was quite the chat. They covered a lot of ground, from Trump to tariffs and even the carbon tax. Carney was pretty playful about it all, especially when they joked about Canada becoming the 51st state. He said that’s not happening, but we can still be “friends with benefits.” The crowd loved it!
When it came to Trump’s tariffs, Carney warned that Canada should gear up for a trade spat, just like last time. He also talked about the carbon tax, pointing out that most emissions come from the oil sector. He believes we should focus on cleaning that up instead of making everyday Canadians change their lives overnight.
Carney didn’t outright say he’s running for the Liberal leadership, but he did call himself an “outsider” in politics. Meanwhile, there’s buzz that Chrystia Freeland might announce her candidacy soon. As of now, only a couple of folks have officially joined the race, and the party will pick its new leader on March 9. It’s definitely heating up!
