Manchester: So, it’s been a bit of a mess at Manchester Airport lately. Snow has been causing all sorts of trouble for the second day in a row. With everyone heading back to work and school after the holidays, it’s not the best timing.

Travelers are being warned to brace for major delays at all three terminals. The runways had to close on Sunday because of the snow, but they reopened later with some delays. Then, this morning, they had to shut down again after more snow came overnight.

They announced the closure around 6:30 AM, but thankfully, the runways were back open just 45 minutes later. Still, it’s been a bit chaotic for passengers trying to get in and out.

A spokesperson from the airport said, “Our runways are now open, but due to the earlier closure, some flights might still be delayed. Check with your airline for the latest updates and give yourself extra time to get here.”

On top of that, there are two weather warnings in place—one for heavy rain until 8 AM and another for snow and ice until midday. Flooding is also causing issues on several roads, including the A555 relief road, which is currently closed.

A spokesperson from Stockport Council mentioned on X that the A555 is closed in both directions due to flooding under a bridge and will remain shut for a while. The Met Office says the heavy rain should ease up later this morning, but more showers could pop up by 2 PM, possibly turning wintry again.

Temperatures are expected to hit around 4°C this afternoon, but it could drop to -1°C overnight. So, if you’re out and about, make sure to bundle up!
