A man was shot and killed by police after threatening patrons with a gun at a Pineville bar

The police got a 911 call just before 4 p.m. on Saturday about a man causing a scene. Surveillance footage shows the man, identified as 24-year-old Colton Maxwell Floren, holding what looked like a gun.
Witnesses said he approached some women at the bar, and one of them tried to calm him down. He then tucked the gun into his waistband. When officers confronted him in the parking lot, they gave him multiple commands, but he kept moving toward them.
In a sudden moment, he made a move that led an officer to fire. Despite attempts to save him, he died later at the hospital. A customer at the bar expressed shock and concern for everyone involved.
The officers are now on administrative leave as the investigation continues. This marks the third officer-involved shooting in the Charlotte area in just three weeks.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into all three cases. Stay tuned for updates as they come in.
