Manchester City has finalized a £29.5m deal for 18-year-old Vitor Reis, boosting their defense with two new signings this January.
The Brazilian club was holding out for a high fee because they see a lot of potential in him. They wanted to keep him until after the Club World Cup, but City was eager to get him right away. After some back-and-forth, they finally struck a deal.
Reis will join another new face, Abdukodir Khusanov, who’s coming from Lens for £33.5 million. Both guys are not expected to jump straight into the starting lineup, but they’re part of a long-term plan to rebuild the squad.
With injuries hitting the team hard, especially to key players like John Stones and Ruben Dias, these new signings will help strengthen the defense. Plus, there’s talk that captain Kyle Walker might be looking to move abroad, possibly to AC Milan.
City is also in talks for a forward, Omar Marmoush, from Frankfurt for £60 million. They usually don’t make big moves in January, but it looks like they’re ready to change that. Guardiola mentioned that new, young players are definitely on the way, which is exciting for the future!
