A Liverpool fan suffered a severe head injury after being attacked by a rival supporter during a match against Manchester City
Liverpool: A 54-year-old dad is counting his blessings after a nasty incident at a football match. Michael Muldoon, a die-hard Liverpool fan, was attacked by a rival supporter outside Anfield.
After the game, which Liverpool won 2-0, things took a turn for the worse. Michael was punched in the face by a Man City fan, causing him to fall and hit his head hard on the curb. He was out cold for nearly five minutes!
When he got to the hospital, doctors were shocked he was still alive after such a blow. They did a CT scan and thankfully found no brain bleeding, but he needed stitches for his head wound.
Michael had to go back to the hospital every couple of days to get his dressing changed. But when doctors saw he wasn’t healing well, they decided to stitch him up properly.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old from Halifax has been arrested by the police for the assault, and they’re still looking into what happened. Michael’s daughter, Charlotte, is asking anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
She explained that her dad was just walking to meet his brother and friends when the attacker pulled his scarf and hit him. It’s heartbreaking to hear how much this has affected their family.
Charlotte shared how anxious they were driving to the hospital, fearing the worst. Thankfully, they got to spend Christmas together, which was a huge relief for them.
Michael has been in and out of the hospital for weeks now, missing work and his beloved football matches. He’s self-employed, so this has hit him hard financially.
Despite everything, Charlotte says he’s tough and resilient. They’re just grateful he’s still with them after such a scary experience.
The police are still gathering information and are asking anyone with footage from the area to help out. They want to make sure justice is served for Michael.
