Leeds: A 44-year-old man named David Crompton lost his life after he couldn’t get his essential medication. His pharmacy left him an ‘IOU’ note instead of the actual prescription.

Sadly, he fell down the stairs, which led to a brain injury and cardiac arrest. Epilepsy played a role in his tragic death. An inquest revealed that he was without his medication for about ten days, which likely contributed to his seizure activity.

The Senior Coroner for West Yorkshire, Kevin McLoughlin, has now issued a report to prevent future deaths. He criticized the pharmacy for not helping Mr. Crompton find his medication when they couldn’t supply it.

The report has been sent to Midway Pharmacy in Pudsey and the General Pharmaceutical Council, asking for a response by February 27. Clare Pelham, from the Epilepsy Society, expressed her heartbreak over the situation and called for an urgent review of the medication supply chain.

She emphasized that no one should have to suffer such a loss due to medication shortages. The hope is that David’s tragic story will prompt the government to take immediate action to prevent this from happening again.
