Richmond: So, there’s some buzz about the upcoming gubernatorial race in Virginia. With just 42 weeks to go, it’s shaping up to be a nail-biter. A recent Mason-Dixon poll shows former Rep. Abigail Spanberger slightly ahead of her likely opponent, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, by just 3 points—47% to 44%. Pretty close, right?

Meanwhile, the Koch Brothers’ group, Americans for Prosperity, is throwing down $20 million for a PR campaign to back Republican tax breaks. They’re planning to hit all 50 states with their ads. That’s a big push!

On another note, there’s a coalition of conservative groups trying to get Republican senators to confirm Pete Hegseth as the next defense secretary. Some of this is being coordinated with Trump’s team, which is interesting.

In Oklahoma, Attorney General Gentner Drummond is making waves as the first major Republican to kick off a campaign for the 2026 gubernatorial race. The current governor, Kevin Stitt, can’t run again due to term limits.

And don’t count out Beto O’Rourke just yet! He’s reportedly eyeing the chair position of the Texas Democratic Party after his previous runs for governor and president didn’t pan out.

Lastly, former First Lady Michelle Obama confirmed she won’t be attending Trump’s second inauguration, although Barack will be there. No reason given, but it’s definitely a talking point.
