Republican lawmakers express concerns over Governor Hochul’s proposals, calling for sustainable solutions for New York families

Assembly member Brian Miller from New Hartford said the Governor’s 2025 proposals focus too much on quick fixes instead of real solutions. He appreciated the talk about investing in public safety, housing, and youth but felt the plans, like the $3 billion inflation refund and expanded child tax credits, only provide temporary relief. They don’t tackle the deeper issues causing New York’s affordability crisis, which is tough on families.
Miller believes New Yorkers deserve more than just quick fixes. He’s eager to work with his colleagues and the Governor in the upcoming legislative session to find meaningful solutions for families in his district.
Assembly member Chis Tague from Schoharie also shared his thoughts. He said that under Hochul’s leadership, New York has faced one crisis after another. Families are struggling to make ends meet, businesses are leaving, and communities feel less safe. Tague criticized the Governor’s address for lacking real solutions, calling it filled with empty promises while New Yorkers continue to suffer.
He emphasized that it’s time for real action to bring back common sense and prosperity to New York. Tague believes the state deserves better leadership and must demand it.
