Michael Allen lost his role as a sherpa for John Ratcliffe due to his ties with Liz Cheney, highlighting internal GOP tensions.

Allen had already started setting up meetings for Ratcliffe when he was pushed out recently. A transition official mentioned that Allen was doing a solid job supporting Ratcliffe, but it seems his past connections were a dealbreaker.
This whole situation shows how the new administration is keen on cleaning house, especially when it comes to Republicans who’ve backed critics like Cheney. You know, the ones who voted to impeach Trump and were part of the January 6 committee.
Neither Allen nor the transition team has commented on this yet. But insiders say there are some serious “purity tests” happening in this administration, even more than before.
At the time of the fundraiser, Cheney was chair of the House Republican Conference. She managed to dodge a leadership removal vote in early 2021 but was out a few months later. The fundraiser was a big deal, costing $5,000 per PAC, $2,500 to host, or $1,000 to attend, and it had a guest list full of big names from D.C.
Before diving into the private sector, Allen worked on various national security issues during the George W. Bush administration and was a big player on the House Intelligence Committee. Now, he’s with a consulting firm called Beacon Global Strategies.
Ratcliffe’s confirmation hearing is coming up this Wednesday, and so far, no Democrats have shown any support for him.
