Idaho Governor Brad Little emphasizes education funding and tax relief in his recent address

Lewiston: Idaho Governor Brad Little recently shared his priorities for the 2025 legislative session. He made a stop in Lewiston to discuss education funding and tax relief.
Little highlighted that public education is his top focus. He mentioned that education funding has increased by 80% during his time in office. This is crucial for Lewiston, especially with competition from Clarkston.
This year, he’s asking for $150 million for public education and an extra $50 million for school choice options. He wants to ensure that any funding for private or home school students is transparent and accountable.
He also plans to include standards for curriculum and testing in the school choice bill. Little aims to make sure that state money is used effectively to educate Idaho kids.
Additionally, he wants to boost funding for Idaho Launch, which helps high school seniors pursue higher education in fields like construction and plumbing.
During his time in office, Idaho has cut taxes by $4.6 billion. Little is looking to add another $100 million in tax relief, although the specifics are still being discussed.
He also wants to refill the state’s wildfire account, which has dropped from $60 million to just $10 million. Little believes it’s important to plan wisely for fire-related investments.
Recently, he attended a meeting with other Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago, where he shared Idaho’s success in cutting regulations. He expressed excitement for the new administration and the upcoming legislative session.
