CORTINA: Lindsey Vonn had a rough time at the Cortina course, falling again after just a few days. She was really frustrated and slammed her pole into the snow. But thankfully, she got up and skied down to the finish without serious injury.

At 40, with a new titanium knee, Vonn is still figuring things out after nearly six years away from the sport. She mentioned that it’s going to take more time and patience, both for herself and for her fans.

Vonn plans to retire after next year’s Olympics, which will also be in Cortina. She feels that not doing well this weekend might actually motivate her more for the future.

During the race, she was on track for a top-5 finish when she fell on her left hip. She lost her balance after her skis clicked together. Luckily, she avoided injury during a crash in training just days before.

Her former coach, Patrick Riml, said it’s all part of the process. Vonn was fourth fastest in one section, but she just needs more practice.

The super-G was won by home skier Federica Brignone, while Vonn, who has 12 wins in Cortina, had a mixed weekend. She finished 20th in Saturday’s downhill after a mistake.

In her latest race, she was doing well until she lost control. It was a tough day for many skiers, with 10 not finishing due to the tricky conditions.

Vonn is trying to stay positive, saying the weekend was generally good, even if she didn’t finish strong. Her friend Sofia Goggia noted that Vonn is still getting used to racing again.

This super-G marked Vonn’s 400th World Cup race, with 82 wins to her name. She’s been in the game for nearly 25 years and is closing in on the record for most races.

Vonn plans to race again next weekend in Germany and then at the world championships in Austria. It’s clear she’s not done yet!
