At 56, Bernabe was already a bit of a controversial figure, known for his support of fascism. But this latest stunt really crossed the line. Lazio said they couldn’t keep him on after those Instagram posts went viral.
He had been with the club since the 2010-11 season, handling the eagle named Olimpia, which flew over the stadium before home games. But it seems like he had other things on his mind besides the bird.
In a radio interview, he confidently defended his decision, saying he had the surgery to boost his sexual performance. He claimed it helped him control his erections better. Quite the explanation, right?
Lazio acknowledged that fans would miss seeing the eagle fly, but they just couldn’t keep Bernabe around anymore. This isn’t the first time he’s stirred up trouble, either. Back in 2021, he was suspended for leading a chant in support of Mussolini.
He even said he didn’t regret it because he admired Mussolini for doing great things for Italy. Seems like Bernabe has a knack for making headlines, but not always for the right reasons!
