Cumbria: A tourism operator in the Lake District is gearing up for a busy week. They’re hitting up trade events and exhibitions to draw in more visitors.

Lake District Estates, which owns attractions like the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’, is on a mission. They want to attract more national and international tourists to the area starting in 2025.

After taking part in the Global European Marketplace and World Travel Market in London, they’re launching a new campaign to bring more business to Cumbria.

The first big event for 2025 is the Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Show at Manchester Central Convention Complex, kicking off on January 16.

Following that, they’ll be at the Britain & Ireland Marketplace in London on January 24, showcasing a variety of UK products.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway will also join two Visit Britain Familiarisation trips to Cumbria, welcoming delegates from China and Australia.

Rachel Bell, who heads marketing at Lake District Estates, emphasized the importance of providing a top-notch visitor experience. She believes it’s crucial to promote the Lake District as a must-visit spot beyond London.

She added that attending these events isn’t just for show; it’s about building loyalty and strong relationships in the domestic market. They want to strengthen ties with group travel operators and explore new markets.

Working with organizations like the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) is key for them. They’re excited to partner with ETOA again to boost inbound travel in 2025.
