This upscale area is also home to many Hollywood stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Harrison Ford. Sadly, it’s now facing one of California’s worst wildfire disasters.

The fire has been burning for six days and is only 11% contained. It has already burned nearly 24,000 acres, taken 16 lives, and destroyed over 5,000 structures, causing massive damage.

Firefighters from various states and even Mexico have come to help the overwhelmed Los Angeles Fire Department, but the fire is still raging.

Over the weekend, the winds calmed down a bit, giving crews a small break. But as the new week starts, those winds are expected to pick up again, making it harder to control the fire.

Currently, more than 150,000 residents in the area are under evacuation orders, including those in Brentwood.

On top of the fire crisis, LA’s city leaders are facing their own issues. LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley has publicly criticized Mayor Karen Bass for her handling of the situation, saying she’s let down both firefighters and residents.

Crowley emphasized the need for better funding to support the firefighters. She pointed out significant gaps in their ability to respond effectively to the fires.

There are rumors that Crowley might be dismissed after a meeting with the mayor, but Bass dismissed those claims when asked by reporters.

Residents are frustrated with the city’s response to the wildfires, leading to a petition for Bass’s recall that has gained over 95,000 signatures.
