Los Angeles: The wildfires in Southern California are causing a lot of chaos for people and their pets. Non-profits are stepping up to help out. The Humane Society of North Texas is teaming up with Wings of Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society to fly adoptable pets to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Cassie Davidson, who works with the Humane Society, said it’s all about creating hope. They’re bringing in pets that need homes while making space for those pets whose owners are evacuating. It’s a real act of compassion.

Next Sunday, they plan to fly in about 150 animals to North Texas. Davidson explained that Wings of Rescue is pulling pets from shelters to make room for those displaced by the fires. They’re focused on helping both the pets and their owners.

Just this past weekend, they flew 80 pets to Utah and another 80 to places like Oregon and Washington. As they prepare for the influx of animals, Davidson is calling for help from the community.

She’s asking people to foster pets for a few days or weeks and to consider donating to help cover their care. If you’re interested in helping out, you can reach out to them directly.

Davidson shared her emotional experience flying into Los Angeles, describing the wildfires as surreal. She felt heartbroken seeing the destruction from above, knowing it affected so many lives.

She talked about the heartbreaking stories of people who rushed home only to find they couldn’t get back to save their pets. It’s a tough situation, and she emphasized the need for compassion during this time.

Davidson also expressed her frustration with negative comments on social media about pet owners. She reminded everyone that many were at work when the fires broke out and urged the community to come together to support those in need.
