New York: The Knicks are crossing their fingers that Karl-Anthony Towns will be good to go for Wednesday’s game in Philly. He’s been listed as questionable after spraining his right thumb during Monday’s game against the Pistons.

Towns hurt his thumb in the first half when he hit his hand on the backboard while driving to the basket. Despite the injury, he still managed to score 26 points and grab 12 rebounds in 43 minutes.

After the game, he shrugged off questions about his thumb, saying, “it is what it is,” and didn’t confirm if he had any X-rays done. Earlier this season, he missed three games due to knee soreness, including one against the Raptors last week.

Jericho Sims has been filling in for Towns but is also questionable for the game against the 76ers due to lower back spasms. Jalen Brunson, who has shoulder soreness, is likely to play.

Towns reflected on the Knicks’ 26-15 record at the season’s midpoint, saying they have room for improvement but are heading in the right direction. Meanwhile, the 76ers are dealing with injuries too, as Joel Embiid missed his fifth straight game with a sprained foot.
