The Jets are considering Jeff Ulbrich, their interim coach, for the permanent head coach role after a challenging season
Ulbrich took over after the Jets fired Robert Saleh, hoping he could spark a turnaround. Unfortunately, the team struggled under his leadership, finishing with a disappointing 5-12 record.
He expressed gratitude for the chance to coach, even if it was just interim. Ulbrich praised the passionate fanbase and the players for their resilience during a tough season.
Before this, he was the defensive coordinator and had a solid background as a player and coach. However, juggling both roles seemed to take a toll on the defense.
Despite the Jets’ defense ranking well in yards allowed, they struggled with points allowed compared to the previous season. Ulbrich admitted that managing both positions was challenging and affected his performance.
The Jets have been interviewing various candidates for the head coach position, and Ulbrich is the ninth to be considered. The team is also looking for a new general manager after parting ways with Joe Douglas.
With a lot of changes happening, the Jets are hoping to find the right fit to lead them back to success.
