Dallas: It’s Jerry’s world, and he’s making some bold moves. NFL Network’s Jane Slater shared that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is on a “solo mission” for the coaching search after Mike McCarthy left the team.

Instead of the usual list of top coordinators, big names and franchise legends are popping up. Deion Sanders and Jason Witten are in the mix!

But there’s some chatter about whether Sanders is just using the Cowboys to negotiate a better deal at Colorado. He’s got a comfy setup there, and it’s unclear if he’d want to leave.

Slater mentioned that while Jerry’s interest in Witten is real, it’s uncertain what role he’d play now that McCarthy is gone. Witten was supposed to be the “heir apparent” on McCarthy’s staff, but plans changed.

McCarthy, who had three playoff trips in five seasons, is already looking at other opportunities, including interviews with the Bears and Saints.

Interestingly, Jones hasn’t reached out to Kellen Moore or Kliff Kingsbury yet, which complicates things since both teams are still in the postseason.

Jones, at 82, is taking full control of the search and has no plans to step back from his GM role. He’s made it clear that he’s in this for the long haul, stating he didn’t buy the team for his kids but for himself.
