US Virgin Islands: So, it turns out that two of Jeffrey Epstein’s friends might be in for a big payday. His estate just got a $112 million tax refund, which has boosted its value to $145 million. Crazy, right?

Darren Indyke and Richard Khan, Epstein’s lawyer and accountant, are the co-executors of the estate. With most victims already settled, they could see some of that cash. But this has some victims pretty upset.

One victim, Marijke Chartouni, who was abused by Epstein, expressed her outrage. She feels it’s wrong for anyone but the victims to benefit from Epstein’s wrongdoings. She’s already settled with the estate but believes victims are still suffering.

When Epstein died in 2019, he was worth over $600 million. But after paying out nearly $164 million to victims and settling other debts, the estate was down to about $40 million at one point.

They also had to pay $105 million to the Virgin Islands government and cover a $30 million loan. But now, with that tax refund, the estate is back in the game.

Once all claims are settled, the remaining assets will go into a trust, the 1953 Trust, named after the year Epstein was born. The beneficiaries of this trust aren’t public, but it includes Indyke, Khan, and Epstein’s girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak.

Epstein owned two private islands in the Virgin Islands, and his estate is being managed there. His brother, Mark Epstein, isn’t sure if he’ll get anything from the trust.

Epstein was known for his long history of abusing young girls, and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving time for her role in that. Many high-profile individuals were linked to Epstein, raising eyebrows about who might benefit from his estate.

Lawyers for Indyke and Khan didn’t respond to requests for comments. It’s a wild situation, and it’s hard to see how this will all play out.
