Louisville: So, here’s the scoop. Jefferson County Public Schools are finally back in session after a week of snow days. But there’s a catch—they’re starting two hours later than usual.

The district announced this on Sunday night. Teachers will also have a one-hour delay, and all Early Childhood classes are canceled. But hey, employees still need to show up for work.

The reason for the delay? The district wants to make sure students can get to their bus stops and walk to school safely in daylight. Some side roads and sidewalks are still a bit tricky after the snow.

Since last Wednesday, snow crews have been working hard to clear the routes near the bus stops. JCPS even had its own team out there plowing and salting the roads on school campuses. They’ve been putting in some serious hours over the weekend.

Now, about those missed school days—students have already lost five days, and that might change the last day of school. Back in September, they missed a day due to bad weather, but the board decided to forgive that one.

Now, they’ll have to figure out if they can do the same for last week’s closures. The board’s next meeting is coming up on Tuesday, January 26.
