In a thrilling NFC wild-card game, Jayden Daniels led the Commanders to a 23-20 victory over the Buccaneers, marking their first playoff win since 2006

Daniels played tough, even with a bandage on his face after taking a hit. He’s now the third rookie quarterback in three years to win a playoff game. The Commanders, with a solid 13-5 record, are heading to face the top-seeded Detroit Lions next.
The Buccaneers had their chances but missed a few key opportunities. Baker Mayfield struggled a bit, especially with a costly turnover in the fourth quarter. They had a chance to take the lead but couldn’t get that last yard when it mattered.
Daniels threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns, joining the ranks of rookie QBs who’ve made playoff history recently. It’s been a long time since Washington celebrated a postseason win, the last one being back in 2006 against the same Buccaneers.
Earlier in the season, the Bucs had beaten the Commanders, but Daniels turned things around this time. He had a fantastic season, even making it to the Pro Bowl, helping Washington bounce back from a rough previous year.
In the fourth quarter, after Tampa Bay held strong on defense, Mayfield fumbled, giving the Commanders a chance to score. Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin for a touchdown, putting Washington ahead.
The Bucs tied it up with a field goal, but Daniels kept his cool and led his team down the field for the winning kick. Coach Dan Quinn had some tough calls on fourth downs, but it all worked out in the end.
Mayfield had his moments, throwing a touchdown to Bucky Irving, but it just wasn’t enough. The Commanders had a solid game plan, and Daniels executed it well, even with some injuries on both sides.
Now, the Commanders are just one win away from the NFC Championship game, while the Buccaneers will be looking to regroup for next season. What a night for Washington football fans!
