Jamie Carragher shares his thoughts on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation, expressing confidence in the player’s future at Liverpool.
Liverpool: Jamie Carragher thinks both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk will stick around at Liverpool. He really can’t see Salah leaving anytime soon.
Both Salah and Van Dijk, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are up for new contracts at the end of the season. There’s a lot of chatter about what they might do. Starting in January, they can chat with foreign clubs if they want.
There have been whispers that Salah and Van Dijk might have already agreed to new three-year deals. But Salah has said he’s not close to signing anything yet, which has fans a bit worried.
Still, Carragher isn’t too stressed about it. He mentioned that fans are used to hearing Salah talk about his contract situation. It’s become a bit of a routine, especially since Salah keeps getting man of the match awards.
“I’m not too worried about what they say anymore,” Carragher said. “I really think both situations will get sorted out, but maybe I’m just being hopeful.”
He added, “I can’t imagine a world where Salah isn’t starting for Liverpool next season. I just don’t see that happening.”
Interestingly, Carragher had previously criticized Salah for expressing his disappointment over not getting an offer. Salah did get an offer, but it seems Liverpool still has some convincing to do.
“The main focus for Liverpool this season isn’t about Salah or Van Dijk’s future. It’s all about winning the Premier League,” Carragher pointed out. “That’s what really matters right now.”
