Donald Trump makes history as the oldest president at 78 years old, surpassing Joe Biden’s record

Interestingly, Trump was already the oldest president when he first took office at 70 back in January 2017. And now, he’s back for another round.
On the flip side, JD Vance is stepping in as the youngest vice president since Richard Nixon. At just 40, he’s also the first millennial to hold that title.
Vance is making waves for another reason too—he’s the first vice president with a beard since 1909! That’s a fun little fact, right?
Now, let’s not forget about the past. No president has had facial hair since William Howard Taft, who sported a mustache. And the last president with a beard was Benjamin Harrison.
Trump is also breaking records in other ways. He’s the first president to be reelected after losing a previous election, just like Grover Cleveland did back in the day.
And here’s a twist: Trump is the first president to be elected after a felony conviction. He was found guilty of falsifying business records related to hush money payments. But he got an unconditional discharge, so no jail time.
While he’s not the first president to be arrested—George W. Bush and Ulysses S. Grant both had their run-ins—Trump is the only one with a felony conviction.
This election was pretty unique too. It’s only the second time in the 21st century that a Republican candidate won the popular vote. The last was George W. Bush in 2004.
Trump also made history by winning Nevada, a state that hadn’t gone Republican since Bush in 2004. His ticket was a hit in Kentucky and West Virginia, winning 65% and 70% of the votes, respectively.
And get this: 2024 marks the first time a candidate whose main home is in Florida won an election. Trump has called Mar-a-Lago his primary residence since 2019.
Vance is only the second Catholic vice president, following Joe Biden. He converted to Catholicism in 2019.
Usha Vance, JD’s wife, is making history too as the first Asian American Second Lady. Her parents immigrated from India.
And let’s not forget Melania Trump, who is only the second foreign-born First Lady. She’s also the first naturalized citizen to hold that title. Born in Slovenia, she became a U.S. citizen after moving here.
