North Terre Haute: So, Indiana American Water just put out a boil water advisory. It’s affecting around 800 customers, including two schools. This started Monday afternoon and should last about 24 hours, wrapping up by Tuesday at 1:45 p.m.

The areas impacted include North 13th Street from Fort Harrison Road to Park Avenue, plus parts of Lafayette and North Clinton Streets. If you need to drink or cook with the water, make sure to boil it for three minutes first. You can still use it for bathing and washing, though.

The issue popped up when a contractor accidentally hit a private fire service main, which caused a drop in water pressure. Indiana American Water crews are on it, working to restore services.

If you want more details, there’s an interactive map available at bit.ly/3WkbFwK. Customers who signed up for alerts will get updates if anything changes. Landlords are also being asked to let their tenants know about the advisory.

The Vigo County School Corp mentioned that the advisory affects Terre Town Elementary and Otter Creek Middle School. But don’t worry, both schools will stay open. They’ve confirmed that classes and students won’t be impacted.

They’re making some adjustments, like possibly changing the lunch menu, and they’ve even delivered bottled water to both schools. Still, they’re encouraging students to bring their own bottled water if they can.
