Illinois bounced back strong, defeating Indiana decisively in a 94-69 game, showcasing their skills and teamwork.
Tomislav Ivisic also had a solid game with 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Fighting Illini, now 13-4 and 5-2 in the Big Ten, bounced back nicely after a tough loss to Southern California.
They dominated the first half, with Jakucionis and Ivisic racking up 34 points together. By halftime, Illinois was leading 60-32, and it was clear they meant business.
Indiana tried to make a comeback, scoring the first 10 points of the second half, but they never got closer than 16 points. Oumar Ballo led the Hoosiers with 16 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough.
Indiana was missing starting forward Malik Reneau, and all five of their losses this season have been by 16 points or more.
Illinois really learned from their last game. They rebounded well and played a nearly flawless first half. When they play like this, they’re one of the best teams out there.
On the flip side, Indiana just didn’t have the energy. They came out flat and didn’t challenge Illinois at all in the first half. If they don’t step it up, it could be a rough season for them.
A key moment was when Illinois went on a 15-2 run after the first media timeout, taking a 25-10 lead. Indiana never got back into single digits after that.
Illinois outscored Indiana 24-14 in the paint and dominated the boards, 29-16, in the first half.
