Keylor Navas reflects on his emotional night when a transfer to Manchester United fell through, changing his career plans.
Navas was actually crying tears of joy when he found out he was staying in Madrid. He said it was such a relief because he loved the city and didn’t want to leave. He was in a waiting room, thinking he might be off to the airport, but it just didn’t happen.
In the end, both players stuck with their teams. Navas went on to have an incredible run with Real Madrid, helping them win three Champions League titles in a row. Meanwhile, De Gea stayed at United for eight more years before leaving as a free agent.
Navas eventually moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and had a solid career there too. Even though he hasn’t officially retired yet, his time at Real Madrid has made him a legend. It’s crazy to think about how different things could have been for both players if that transfer had gone through!
