Miami: Darrin Smith is making waves as the 16th Hurricane to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The National Football Federation announced this exciting news on Wednesday.

He’s part of a 2025 class that features 17 other players, including NFL legends like Michael Vick and Michael Strahan, plus four coaches, including Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. They’ll all be honored at the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on December 9, 2025.

Smith, who hails from Miami, played for the Hurricanes from 1989 to 1992 and snagged two national championships during his time. He wrapped up his college career with 401 tackles, ranking fifth in the program’s history. He also recorded 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and 24 pass breakups.

Playing alongside Micheal Barrow and Jessie Armstead, they formed the famous “Bermuda Triangle” linebacker trio. Smith earned first-team All-Big East honors twice and was a two-time All-American.

He was inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame back in 2006. The Dallas Cowboys picked him in the second round of the 1993 NFL draft, and he went on to win two Super Bowls with them. Over 12 years in the NFL, he tallied 784 tackles, 24 sacks, and 11 interceptions.
