Henderson: A woman from the Las Vegas Valley is taking legal action against Green Valley Ranch. She says an automated security gate in the parking garage injured her because there wasn’t a safe walkway for pedestrians.

Elizabeth Browner filed a negligence complaint in Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court. She claims the gate arm hit her in the face while she was trying to get through the parking structure, leading to injuries.

Browner is looking for compensation for her injuries. Green Valley Ranch is part of Station Casinos, which is owned by Red Rock Resorts. A spokesperson for the company said they can’t comment on ongoing lawsuits but emphasized that guest safety is a top priority.

Browner visited the casino on January 12, 2023, to play bingo. After parking in the VIP area, she noticed there was no clear path for pedestrians to walk safely to her car. This forced her to navigate through the garage where cars were moving.

As she approached one of the automated gates, it suddenly swung down and struck her in the left eye, causing her to fall. She reported severe pain and injuries to her face.

The lawsuit details that Browner suffered a laceration on her nose, a corneal abrasion, and other injuries. An employee helped her and called for an ambulance, and she was taken to the hospital.

Browner had to stay home for two weeks due to her injuries, which also affected her sleep. She needed follow-up medical care and physical therapy. The lawsuit claims that the casino created a dangerous situation by not providing a safe walkway and that the gate arm had a history of malfunctioning before and after the incident.
