Milwaukee: Now that winter break is over, students and teachers are getting back into the groove. And guess what? It’s time for Wisconsin’s Student of the Week again.

This week, instead of the usual poll, we’re asking for more nominees. It’s super easy to help keep this going!

So, who can be a Student of the Week? We’re looking for high school students in Wisconsin who shine in different ways. It’s not just about having the best grades or being in every club. We’ve had winners from all grades who’ve shown mentorship, community spirit, and even helped their peers with mental health.

We want nominations from anyone who works with high schoolers. We’ve had students from all kinds of schools, whether public, private, or virtual, from Milwaukee to Merrill. Teachers, counselors, and youth advocates can all send in nominations.

Want to nominate someone? Just fill out our nomination form. If you need the link, reach out to Debi Young at debi.young@jrn.com. Make sure to include the student’s name, grade, a current photo, and a short reason for the nomination.

Our poll runs from 5 a.m. Monday to noon Thursday, and we announce the winner on Fridays online and in print on Sundays. Each winner also gets a certificate sent to their school.

Even if you don’t work directly with students, you can still help! Check out our poll every Monday and encourage others to vote. We’d love to see your local school or community represented, so suggest that teachers or youth organizations send in nominations.
