Governor Lombardo will present his 2025 State of the State Address today, outlining his goals for the upcoming legislative session

Carson City: Today at 6 p.m., Governor Joe Lombardo will deliver his 2025 State of the State Address in Nevada’s capital. He’ll share his goals and priorities for the upcoming legislative session.
Lombardo expressed his eagerness to discuss the progress made since his inaugural address. He plans to highlight his vision for the state, focusing on keeping taxes low, balancing the budget, and investing in education and workforce development.
He’s also looking to build on advancements in education, economic growth, healthcare, housing, and public safety. This address is a biennial tradition, happening two weeks before the legislative session starts, giving lawmakers a heads-up on what to expect.
In the last election, Lombardo managed to prevent a Democratic supermajority, which would have limited his veto power. Even though Democrats still control both the Assembly and Senate, any bills they pass will need his signature.
Before the address, the Nevada State Democratic Party released an ad called “Expensive.” They claim Lombardo’s vetoes have raised costs for families, pointing to housing bills that would have helped seniors and provided school meals for students.
