Greater Manchester: So, there’s this former detective, Maggie Oliver, who’s been pretty vocal lately. She’s saying that Keir Starmer is just as guilty as anyone when it comes to the failures in handling grooming gangs. She really doesn’t hold back.

Oliver, who left the Greater Manchester Police back in 2012 after looking into the Rochdale grooming case, is calling out the past investigations. She wants an independent probe and thinks that public officials who ignored the issue should face criminal charges. This comes after Elon Musk had a go at Starmer, saying he didn’t do enough when he was the director of public prosecutions.

She’s been posting on X, saying that all those inquiries have led to nothing and wasted tons of money. It seems like she believes the people in charge just want to cover things up instead of getting to the truth.

Oliver insists we need fresh eyes on this whole situation. She’s calling for a complete overhaul of public bodies and accountability for those who’ve turned a blind eye. She thinks both the Conservatives and Labour share the blame, and she’s not shy about pointing fingers at Starmer.

She’s really frustrated, saying that those in charge have failed to protect children and prosecute offenders. It’s a serious accusation, and she’s not the only one speaking out. Musk also threw shade at safeguarding minister Jess Phillips, suggesting she should be in prison for not leading a public inquiry into child exploitation in Oldham.

Another whistleblower, Sara Rowbotham, is also annoyed with Musk’s comments, saying it feels more political than helpful. She thinks he’s just trying to take a jab at Starmer without really focusing on the victims.

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse wrapped up its final report in 2022, calling the abuse of children an epidemic. They looked into organized groups and how they’ve affected kids across the UK. But even after all that, none of the recommendations have been put into action, which has left many feeling frustrated.

It’s a tough situation, and it seems like there’s still a long way to go before anyone feels safe or heard.
