The New York Giants have let go of coaches Jerome Henderson and Mike Treier following disappointing defensive performances over the past two seasons

Henderson was once in the running for the defensive coordinator job but ended up as the defensive passing game coordinator. Treier climbed the ranks from a quality control coach to safeties coach. Their firings come after a rough couple of seasons for the Giants’ defense.
In 2023, the defense had a decent year with 31 takeaways, but things took a turn in 2024, finishing near the bottom in interceptions. There were a lot of changes in coaching and player personnel, which didn’t help.
Daboll’s leadership has been questioned, especially after the defense struggled. Co-owner John Mara expressed frustration with the team’s performance, saying he was tired of watching teams score easily against them.
Interestingly, there was also a quieter addition to the coaching staff with Matt MacPherson, who had a controversial past at Northwestern. His role was never officially announced, which raises some eyebrows.
Overall, the Giants are clearly looking to shake things up after a disappointing season, and these firings reflect that desire for change.
