Charlotte: So, gas prices are on the rise again. They hit an average of $2.91 per gallon this week, which is a bit higher than last week’s $2.88. This info comes straight from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Interestingly, prices in the Lower Atlantic region have actually dropped about a cent since last month. Over the past year, we’ve seen prices dip as low as $2.86 back in December and peak at $3.66 in August.

Just a year ago, the average was a tad higher at $2.97 per gallon. It’s kind of wild how much things can change in just a year.

For a broader perspective, the national average gas price last week was $3.05, which means our region is about 4.4% cheaper than the rest of the country. Last week, the national average was $3.01, so it’s creeping up a bit.

The EIA tracks prices across several states in the Lower Atlantic, including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. It’s good to keep an eye on these trends, especially if you’re planning a road trip or just filling up your tank.
