Plan your visits to national parks in 2025 with free admission days available
City: Sequoia National Park. If you’re planning a trip to the national parks in 2025, you’re in for a treat. There are several days when you can visit for free, saving you some cash.
Mark your calendars for these free admission days: January 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, April 19 for the start of National Park Week, June 19 for Juneteenth, August 4 for the Great American Outdoors Act anniversary, September 27 for National Public Lands Day, and November 11 for Veterans Day.
Just a heads up, some parks require reservations during busy times to avoid long lines. You can check out recreation.gov for details on timed entry reservations.
For instance, if you’re heading to Arches National Park in Utah, you’ll need a reservation during peak hours starting in April. But if you want to skip the fee, just go before 7 a.m. or after 4 p.m. You can even walk or bike in!
These free days can get crowded, so it’s best to arrive early to enjoy the parks with fewer people around.
Thinking about where to go? Yosemite, Sequoia, and Pinnacles are great options in California. Pinnacles is a bit of a hidden gem, so it’s worth checking out.
Personally, I love heading to Joshua Tree. If you leave early enough, you can catch a stunning sunrise over the desert. It’s a sight you won’t forget!
Remember, Joshua Tree will also be free on November 11 for Veterans Day. Bring some snacks and water, and grab a park map from the ranger or download one online.
Just make sure you have enough gas and supplies, as there aren’t any facilities inside the park. Once the crowds arrive, it’s a good time to take a break, grab lunch, and maybe even stop for a swim at Desert Hot Springs on your way home.
Enjoy your adventures in the great outdoors!
