Kansas City: So, Kate E. Brubacher, the first woman to be the U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas, is stepping down. She sent her resignation to President Biden and will officially leave on January 19.

Brubacher started her role in March 2023 after being nominated by Biden. She mentioned that it was a huge honor to serve her home state.

She expressed gratitude to Biden and Kansas Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall for their support. The District of Kansas serves around 2.9 million people across 105 counties, with offices in major cities like Wichita and Topeka.

During her time, she tackled serious issues like drug trafficking and white-collar crimes. She also worked hard to bring justice to child pornography cases.

Before this role, Brubacher earned her degree from Stanford and a law degree from Yale. She even has a Master’s in Religion from Yale Divinity School.

She previously worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Jackson County, Missouri, and had stints at two law firms in New York City.

Brubacher left with high praise for her team, saying they worked tirelessly to protect the public and uphold the Constitution. She highlighted their efforts against the fentanyl crisis and violent crime, especially crimes against children.

She’s optimistic about the future of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas and looks forward to its continued success.
