Firefighters have finally left the site of a major industrial fire after ten days of intense efforts to control the situation
Burtonwood: So, firefighters have finally wrapped up their work at that big industrial fire. It’s been a wild ten days since the flames first kicked off.
The fire started in an industrial unit on Phipps Lane around 11 AM on December 28. It was a serious situation, with about five fire engines rushing to the scene.
They tackled the blaze by breaking it down into sections and even used an aerial ladder to spray water from above. Pretty intense stuff!
Once they got the fire under control, they went inside to make sure everything was safe. They used thermal imaging cameras to check for any hidden hotspots to stop it from flaring up again.
But then, later that same evening, they had to head back to the site around 9:15 PM. Fire engines from nearby stations joined in, along with help from Merseyside and Greater Manchester crews.
This fire was no joke; it was well-developed, and firefighters had to stay overnight. They kept a presence there for ten more days, which is quite a commitment.
Even with all this going on, there was a huge demand for fire services due to flooding in Warrington and other areas. It was a busy time for everyone.
The fire service explained why they had to stick around for so long. They said the building partially collapsed, making it a tricky situation to fully put out.
Firefighters took shifts to keep an eye on things, using thermal cameras to do regular checks and dampen down any remaining hot spots.
Finally, they confirmed that the fire is now completely out, and the crew left the site on January 7. What a relief!
