A couple’s search for a bathroom in their Airbnb led to a surprising discovery that left them in stitches
The couple arrived at The Old Thatch, a charming cottage, but couldn’t find the promised en suite. Rachel, a nursery room manager from London, described the place as cute and normal. They searched high and low, but the loo was nowhere to be found.
Just when they were about to give up, they opened a sliding wardrobe door and discovered the toilet tucked away inside. It was right next to the bed! They couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
The cottage was marketed as a traditional thatched roof getaway, complete with two double bedrooms and a cozy electric log burner. They paid nearly $500 for two nights, expecting a regular bathroom setup.
However, the listing didn’t mention that the toilet was hidden in the mirrored wardrobe. To make matters worse, the sliding doors didn’t close properly, leaving a gap for anyone to peek in.
Rachel joked about the tight squeeze, saying, “I had to use the toilet in the middle of the night, so we just got used to peeing so close to each other.”
Despite the awkwardness, they found the humor in the situation. They left a light-hearted note for the hosts, mentioning the surprise toilet. Rachel said the owners were lovely, and it turned out to be a funny story for their wedding weekend.
